Tour Details

Day 1

Tunis & Carthage

We'll pick up from your location in Tunis. You'll enjoy lunch at a restaurant in La Goulette, the port of Tunis. Located on a sandbar it's renowned for its waterfront restaurants and delicious seafood. After lunch, we'll make a stop at The National Bardo Museum housed in an old Beylic palace dating back to 19th century where you can see the largest collection of mosaics in the world, Punic jewels, Roman sarcophagi, Christian baptistries, bronze pieces, marble statues and furniture.

 

In the afternoon, we will embark on a journey to Carthage archaeological site. This ancient city was once the most influential in the region, thanks to its strategic location along trade routes and its magnificent harbor on the Mediterranean. Here, you can explore the ruins of ancient baths and an impressive amphitheater, and immerse yourself in the rich history of this fascinating place. We'll explore the vibrant Medina of Tunis, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and indulge in the sensory experience of this historic marketplace. From spices and textiles to handmade crafts and souvenirs, you'll find a variety of treasures to discover. After a day of exploration, check-in at your hotel for a comfortable overnight stay in Tunis.

Day 2

Tunis - Kairouan - Tozeur

After breakfast, we'll depart on a journey to Kairouan, a city founded during the Arab conquest of Africa in 670 AD. As one of the largest metropolises in the Mediterranean during the 9th century, it now stands as the fourth holiest city of Islam. You'll experience the beauty of Islamic architecture with visits to the Great Mosque of Uqba, the Mosque of the Barber, and the Aghlabid Basins. You'll take a stroll through the colorful Medina, enjoy a lunch break with locals, and indulge in the famous pastry while visiting local workshops. Afterwards, we'll depart to Tozeur in the South. A few stops for a break along the way. Dinner and overnight stay in Tozeur.

Day 3

Chebika - Tamerza - Star Wars Movie Sets - Eden Palm Oasis - Chott El Jerid - Douz - Sahara

After breakfast, we'll drive by 4x4 safari Land Cruiser to the oases of Chebika & Tamerza, Mides Canyon, and Star Wars movie sets. The fictional city of Mos Espa is a famous Star Wars filming location in Tunisia and is located in the middle of the Sahara desert near Tozeur and Nefta, on the edge of mighty dunes. At the end of this excursion we'll drive back to Tozeur, followed by a carriage ride through the lush and scenic Eden Palm where you will learn about the production of dates and do dates tasting. Lunch will be served at the lush and extraordinary garden of Eden Palm. In the afternoon you'll continue to Douz through the Chott El Jerid salt desert - the largest salt flats in Sahara with a stop for a photo. Upon arrival at Douz you'll have the option for a camel ride if you'd like. We'll leave by 4x4 vehicle through the captivating desert dunes towards you camp. Overnight stay at a Sahara camp for dinner and stargazing.

Day 4

Matmata - Tataouine - Chenini - Djerba

You'll enjoy a delicious breakfast at the Sahara camp before heading to the Berber village of Matmata. You'll experience the unique underground dwellings that still serve as homes today and have lunch with the friendly locals. You'll continue your journey to the Berber village of Chenini and marvel at the Ksar Citadel perched on a hill, which was used for food storage and as a refuge site in times of attack. Photo stop at Ksar Hadida. After a long day of exploring, your final stop is the beautiful island of Djerba, home to the ancient synagogue El Ghriba, which is over 26 centuries old. Once you arrive, you'll check-in to your hotel for a delicious dinner and a comfortable overnight stay in Djerba.

Day 5

Djerba Island

Begin your day with a peaceful breakfast and some time to relax on the beach. You'll discover the wonders of Djerba and explore Guellala, renowned for its pottery workshops, and visit the ancient El Ghriba synagogue, the oldest in Tunisia and possibly all of Africa. You'll take a stroll through the charming Djerbahood, where artists from around the world have created over 250 stunning murals. End your day with some shopping or tea in Houmt Souk before returning to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay in Djerba.

Day 6

Djerba - El Jem - Monastir - Sousse

After breakfast, you'll discover the rich history of Tunisia from the Roman epoch by visiting the El Jem amphitheatre, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most popular tourist destinations in the country. Built in the mid 3rd century AD, this amphitheater is the largest Roman monument in Africa and offers a fascinating glimpse into the past. We'll carve some time for lunch and continue to Monastir with a visit of the Ribat - the most prominent monument of the city. The day tour will continue to Sousse, the third largest city in Tunisia, with UNESCO-listed Medina and a visit of the Archaeological museum. Check-in at your hotel for dinner and overnight stay in Sousse.

Day 7

Sousse - Sidi Bou Said

After breakfast at your hotel you'll visit the Ribat of Sousse, uncover the hidden secrets of an ancient wonder and indulge in its cultural heritage. We'll accompany you on a leisurely walk through the Medina, where you'll be captivated by the lively atmosphere and rich traditions of this charming city. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant. We'll drive to the romantic Sidi Bou Said, considered the most beautiful town in Tunisia. It's known for its blue and white buildings, flowers and stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea. You'll get a stroll through the winding streets and hidden alleys, and discover the true heart of this enchanting place. Spend your final moments here exploring the local shops and cafes and delve yourself in the unique atmosphere of this Tunisian gem before we bring you to your location in Tunis. We hope you had a wonderful experience and look forward to welcoming you back soon.
